San Francisco

By Mister Curie

I'll be taking a business trip to San Francisco next week with some free time for sightseeing.  Any suggestions on where I should go or what I should do?

  2. Fort Point under the Golden Gate is fun. Also, the Marin Headlands gives a great view of the Golden Gate and the Bay in general.

  3. Do you like to shop? I could spend days (and thousands of dollars, if I had it) at Union Square. Every brand you can think of, from Old Navy to Armani, all within a few city blocks.

It might be a bit cliche, but I really love Fisherman's Wharf--perhaps precisely because of the tourist-y atmosphere.

Chinatown can be a lot of fun too.

We didn't make it to the top of Coit Tower on telegraph hill, but I hear it's a gorgeous view of the entire city and bay.

Of course there's the Castro district--where all of the streetlights have rainbow flags hanging from them. Not a typical tourist destination, perhaps, but a should-see for a gay tourist, IMHO.

Golden Gate Park is a great place to just relax and have a nice stroll.

And a trip across the Golden Gate bridge (via car, bike, or on foot) isn't a bad idea, if you have the time.

(I've heard good things about Muir Woods, as recommended by Anonymous, but haven't actually been there myself).

    I love San Francisco! :)
